Kaylie embraced her passion at just 3 years of age and entered the world of competitive dance extensively in all dance styles at the age of 11. She blossomed and grew as she simultaneously was a part of the Moorpark High Schools varsity dance team for three years and worked alongside our amazing faculty here at SGD as a teacher/choreographers assistant to become the dedicated teacher she is now. As a result, Kaylie is an extremely versatile accomplished dancer in all genres, but is particularly passionate towards jazz, acrobatics and contemporary dance because of her early training.
Dance has already provided Kaylie with a host of wonderful opportunities and accomplishments including pursuing her dance career as a part of the California State University of Fullerton 17x Grand Champion. She performed in over 60 events throughout the year including men’s and women’s basketball games. She also traveled to Florida with her team and competed for the Grand Championship in her pom and jazz routines. She trained in multiple styles of dance including ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical and tumbling. Kaylie was a part of a competition team for 9 years winning multiple first place awards for her group dances as well as her solos. Kaylie has also won numerous grand championship awards over her years of competing. She was awarded the recipient of the Pat Jackson Memorial Dance Scholarship for 2020-2021.
Growing up as a competitive dancer, Kaylie had a love for storytelling through movement, but it wasn’t until Pam Rossi gave her the opportunity to give back and teach herself that she found her passion as an educator of dance. Kaylie loves being able to share her knowledge with the young dancers and hopes to inspire them to pursue their own careers in the arts. She also has a degree in kinesiology from CSUF and incorporates her knowledge of the body into her training as a dance instructor.
Kaylie also has started her own dance wear brand and is the designer and creator of the amazing Ottolux. She is detail oriented and loves making comfortable and fun outfits for the dancers to feel their best in! From dancer to designer, she is excited for this new adventure to continue her artistry in a new way.
