Guides For Parents
General information and guidelines for dance parents.
What makes our school special?
Our dance floor is professional floating dance floor offers additional cushioning and support to help prevent injuries and fatigue. We also have a full time office staff, which means the person teaching the class is not distracted with administrative details and there is always someone available to assist you with your customer service needs. We also keep our class sizes appropriate to the age and style. If a class is a little larger they will have a dance assistant in that class.
Can I sit and observe my child in dance class?
We find it to be disruptive to the teaching and learning environment when parents observe class from inside the classroom. Both studios provides viewing window so the parent may observe their child from the waiting room without interrupting the class. Sometime the parents sit and watch can become to distracting for the students. There are too many authority figures and the children either lose class time looking for Mom and Dad’s approval, or they act out to see what reaction they will get. From time to time our curtains to our viewing windows will be closed to have less distractions for the class. Entrance doors to both studios will be closed during class time. Parents may look through viewing windows only. Please do not sit at the doors. Our third and fourth studio have a sitting area in the front for parents.
At what age can my children start dancing at the school?
We recommend students starting at 2.5 years old or when they are potty-trained and out of diapers. There is not a perfect time to start a class dance. A perfect time to start is if you want to dance. That is why we offer classes 2.5 year to Adult.
What if I have questions or concerns?
Please keep in mind that the faculty/instructors always have the best interest of the students in mind. Our main goal is to see our students learn and progress. Do you offer discounts for families with more than one child wanting to dance?

What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Visa and MasterCard and auto debit.
What if I miss a class?
We do offer make up classes. Students have 30 days to make up any missed classes or the class is forfeited.
How do I know which level of class to take?
Even if you have previous dance experience the director and teacher will evaluate the dancer in a class. Then they will suggest a class that will have the dancers best interest. Place that student in the best level and that will also be the best learning environment for that student.
How long is the dance season?
If your student is registered for monthly dance classes, the Fall Season runs from September 2024 to June 2025. We then prepare for our Dance Camps and regular summer dance classes. Summer classes and Camps will start at various days and times from June 24, 2024 through August 10, 2024.
What do students learn in dance class?
In our classes, we try to incorporate many things in the learning environment in addition to dance steps. Students build confidence, grace, poise, musicality and increase friendship-building skills. They learn control and discipline. Overcome what may seem hard and challenging in time with fun and patience becomes easier. That builds the “I can do it and feel good about me.”
Do we have to sign up for monthly classes or can we just drop-in here and there?
We at Solid Gold Dance feel that instruction needs to be on a consistent basis in order for a dancer to learn best at any level. New students to Solid Gold Dance can pay for a single class to take and try out before registering for monthly classes.
