Chris Erk
Chris Erk began touring internationally with Tap Dogs at the age of 15, and later went on to become the show's lead and Dance Captain over the course of 20 years. He has performed and choreographed for Break the Floor, Broadway Underground, Postmodern Jukebox, and Spiegelworld’s Absinthe in Las Vegas. His original shows, Tap in the Night and Feet Speak, have been performed around the world on top luxury ships the MS Europa I and II.
He has served as faculty for Break the Floor Productions, became Creative Coordinator for Jump, and taught at top studios and conventions across the country. While in New York City, he was a frequent guest instructor at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and national events like Dance Masters of America and Tap the Map.
As Founding Artistic Director of The Tap Factor, Chris brings together dancers and non-dancers of all abilities in inclusive programs focused on connection, community, and creative expression. His work has been featured with organizations such as Best Buddies at Carnegie Hall, the Boys & Girls Club of America, Columbia University, and The New School. He’s also taught tap at Wright State University and Sinclair Community College and continues to lead workshops and virtual sessions from his studio in Los Angeles.
Known for his approachable style, Chris pairs tap technique with everyday movement to help dancers of all levels build confidence, musicality, and a natural connection to rhythm, making tap accessible, expressive, and empowering for everyone.
